I picked up the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 not long after it came out, and it's quickly become the camera I grab first for pretty much everything — travel, street shooting, casual vlogs. It's small, the image quality is genuinely impressive, and the gimbal just works.
But after a few weeks of daily use, I started adding accessories. Not because the camera needed them, but because the right ones make the whole experience smoother. Here's what's actually stayed in my bag.
A Carrying Case (Get This First)
The Pocket 4 is compact, but the gimbal is exposed and delicate. I learned this the hard way when I tossed it into my bag without protection and spent the next ten minutes worrying about it the whole commute.
Now I always use a dedicated case. I've tried a few — a slim body bag for days when I'm traveling light, a molded all-round storage bag when I'm bringing more gear, and a hard EVA shell case for flights or longer trips. Each one has its place. The key thing is just having something purpose-built rather than hoping for the best.
Gimbal Protective Cover
This one's non-negotiable for me. It snaps on in seconds and protects the most vulnerable part of the camera when it's not in use. I put it on every single time the camera goes into a bag. Small habit, big peace of mind.
Wide-Angle Lens
The Pocket 4's default field of view is good, but I found myself wanting more width — especially indoors or when I'm trying to capture a scene rather than just a subject. A magnetic wide-angle lens that extends the FOV to 112 degrees has become a regular part of my kit. It attaches and detaches in a couple of seconds, so I only use it when I actually need it.
Handheld Fill Light
This surprised me. I didn't think I'd use a fill light much, but shooting in cafes, restaurants, or anywhere with mixed or dim lighting made me a convert. A compact handheld light makes a noticeable difference to skin tones and overall image quality in low light. I use one that's compatible with both the Pocket 4 and Pocket 3, so it works across my whole setup.
Magnetic Base Adapter / Extension Stand
The Pocket 4 has limited native mounting options, so a multi-functional magnetic base adapter has been really useful. It lets me attach the camera to a tripod, a cold shoe, or use it as a small desktop stand. The magnetic connection is secure and the whole thing folds flat, so it doesn't add much bulk to my bag.
Flip Cover Screen Protector
The Pocket 4's screen is one of its best features — which also means it's worth protecting. I use a flip cover that doubles as a screen protector. It's slim, doesn't add noticeable weight, and has saved the screen from a few close calls with keys and coins in my pocket.
What I'd Recommend Starting With
If you're just getting the Pocket 4 and wondering where to start: get a case and a gimbal cover first. Those two things protect your investment from day one. Then add the wide-angle lens if you shoot a lot of indoor or environmental content, and consider a fill light if you shoot in variable lighting conditions.
Everything else can come later as you figure out how you actually use the camera. The Pocket 4 is great on its own — these accessories just help you get more out of it.
